Tonight in live music: Bryan Adams, Sun Seeker, Marty Friedman + more

A look at concert highlights for this Fri., Feb. 19, plus a peek at the weekend ahead

Looks like you made it — to Friday, yay! Here's a look at what's happening in the concert realms on this Fri., Feb. 19, plus a peek at the weekend ahead

Bryan Adams
No matter how gooey you think his particular brand of cheese may be, you have to admit, Canadian rocker Bryan Adams slays at plucking the heart-strings in both loving ballads and barn-burners; “Summer of ’69,” “Straight from the Heart,” “Heaven,” “(Everything I Do) I Do It for You,” “Please Forgive Me,” and the like. And he’s still churning out new material; last year he dropped a 13th Jeff Lynne-produced studio LP, Get Up, and he plays in support with his full band at this special waterfront concert presented by Ruth Eckerd Hall and the City of Clearwater. (Coachman Park, Clearwater)

Sun Seeker with Buffy, Veiny Hands, Deadborns A rather fine (and free) Friday night showing at the Bends highlighted by Nashville’s psyche-folk quartet Sun Seeker, which arrive fresh off releasing a new 7” on Third Man Records, its lead single “Georgia Dust” possessing a warm vintage AM quality and built on sunny ambling and shuffling rhythms, slide guitar melodies and pleasantly warm vocal harmonies. (The Bends, St. Petersburg)

Jauz, Crizzly Phonetically, Jauz is ‘jaws,’ the project of 22-year-old Los Angeles-based producer/DJ Sam Vogel, whose insists his music has no genre or boundaries, but is definitely electronic-rooted with trap, ‘step and bass music tendencies, studded with soulful vocal splices and driven by synths and beats that stutter, womp, zip or bounce like an overfilled ball. He toured with Diplo and Major Lazer for last summer’s string of Mad Decent Block Parties and comes to town on “The Friendzy Tour” with Austin’s Crizzly, who has a similar aesthetic but with a heavier crunk and hip hop thrust. (Amphitheater, Ybor City)

Sara Rose Band A favored purveyor of classic country and Western swing odes as powered by the croons and belts of feminine namesake Rose and bolstered by guitar-slinging vet Mark Warren, bassist Michael Hoag (Ditchflowers, Barely Pink) and drummer Todd Fermanich with occasional special guests; setlists touch on material by Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Hank Williams and the like. (Ella's American Folk Art Café, Tampa)

Marty Friedman with Holy Grail, War Of Thrones, Drastic Fall If you dig Megadeth, this show’s probably been on your radar since it was confirmed. Marty Friedman came up shredding lead in that particular mega metal band, his decade-long tenure encompassing 1992 breakthrough Countdown to Extinction. He’s put out a dozen solo LPs, too; the last was 2014 Prosthetic Records debut, Inferno. (State Theatre , St. Petersburg)

Matt Woods & Ryan Sheley Enjoy a double billing of whiskey-soaked twang-kicking Americana when long-haired and beardy Tennessee singer-songwriters Matt Woods and Ryan Sheley land in St. Pete on their “Southern Gentlemen Tour.” (Emerald Bar, St. Petersburg)
