Power. Purpose. Propagandhi.

Big Pre-Fest in Little Ybor, no doubt, was two full days and nights of fun and tight hangs with friends, and while bands like RVIVR and Kamikaze Girls went out of their way to speak to social issues, the mid-week weekend felt like, well, a happy party.

It wasn't until after the midnight hour of day two that Canadian punk icons Propagandhi would take to the stage to remind everyone that punk rock is still some of the most powerful protest music our generation as to lean on. With Tampa-native Sulynn Hago on guitars, frontman Chris Hannah did not shy away from the mic where he shouted about the many atrocities we are living through today (most notably the ransacking of Native Americans' sacred land in North Dakota). Bassist Todd Kowalski emanated an almost palpable energy, and drummer Jord Samolesky was happy to play the steady anchor (although he did crack some funny ones about local craft beer).

All in all, the set was reminder that there's still a lot of work to be done and that we are the one's who'll have to do it.
