It was a four-way primary, and there was plenty of mudslinging.
State Rep. Darryl Rouson (D-St. Petersburg) was the favorite among St. Pete Democrats and State Rep. Ed Narain (D-Tampa) seemed to get all the endorsements on his side of the bay.
St. Pete trial lawyer Augie Ribeiro used his own money to throw shade at both as former Tampa-area State Rep. Betty Reed looked on.
In the end, it came down to Rouson and Narain.
Rouson took the bulk of the votes in Pinellas and Narain dominated in Hillsborough.
But when the two counties' votes were combined, Narain came within less than half a percent of Rouson, triggering, by law, a recount, which should be carried out over the next couple of days.
Here's how each of the candidates fared:
Narain: 28.43 percent.
Reed: 22.09 percent.
Ribeiro: 20.88 percent.
Rouson: 28.59 percent.
The number of votes by which Narain trailed Rouson was all of 61.
