Last Monday, on Aug. 8, on the same day Twitter Music changed its name to it say it was listening to Doechii, the Tampa rapper dropped into Mischief Monday at The Ritz in Ybor City.

Her performance came two months after XXL magazine named her to the 2022 edition of the publication’s coveted freshman class and followed appearances on “Fallon,” in Rolling Stone, and after her signing to Top Dawg Entertainment, former home of Kendrick Lamar. Just a week before the homecoming, President Barack Obama put Doechii’s latest single “Persuasive” on his summer playlist.

It’s safe to say that Doechii, who celebrated her 24th birthday less than a week after the Ritz gig, is well on her way, so it was cool to see her pop in as she rises to the top of the rap game.
