Futuristically Speaking … Never Be Afraid
Tampa's X-rated lesbian hip-hop duo (formerly a trio) has become internationally known in the past two years thanks to a highly sexual, expletive-intensive, self-titled debut EP and booze-fueled live shows that often feature boob-flashing courtesy of MC Jewel B (Windy Baynham). On the twosome's full-length debut, Futuristically Speaking … Never Be Afraid, Jewel B. and Sunda K Lashunda offer wonderfully dirty party anthems over retro electro and drop-that-bass sonics. And then there are darker, more intriguing numbers, like the opener "Fucked Up." "I wanna choke you until you can't breathe/ Do you wanna hit, hit me?" spits Jewel B over jittery rhythms. "I don't give a fuck 'cause I love you." How sweet. 3.5 stars
