When I was a 10-year-old tot living in the burbs of the Big Apple, my dad would often lug me into Manhattan on a steamy summer weekend. One time we landed in the East Village where the Tim Leary "Turn on, tune in, drop out" culture was in full swing.
My fondest memory of that hippie culture was an old ballroom space called "The Electric Circus" — a magical and mysterious urban oasis, a "happening" in the lingo of the times, not unlike Barkin' HeARTs' "Return to Wonderland" charitable fundraiser that took place this past Friday night at The Heights in Tampa.
