Naviera Coffee Mills, Ybor City's home for locally roasted coffee and El Molino Coffee Shop, quietly closed its doors Dec. 31.
Since 1921, the company at 2012 E. Seventh Ave. has been family owned and operated. Along with cigars, the aroma of fresh coffee has been a permanent fixture along Seventh Avenue.
"To all our friends and loyal customers," a note posted to Naviera's building begins. "It is with great anticipation, but also with much sadness to tell you that Naviera Coffee Mills will begin moving its operations to a new facility… We will miss you all."
According to a representative at Metropolitan Cigars next door, where the coffee is now being sold, Naviera will indeed continue at another location. The company's beans are also still available online, but at a hefty shipping charge — $12.95.
