Another surf shack for a growing Florida-based fish taco and burger franchise has hit Tampa Bay.
Jimmy Hula's, which first introduced itself to local diners in Brandon, premiered its newest location to Clearwater Beach last month, operating in soft-opening mode until the week of Jan. 2. The restaurant at 454 Mandalay Ave. reflects the fast-casual brand's island-theme decor and atmosphere, plus offers the same something-for-everyone menu.
There's an assortment of signature Jimmy Hula's fish tacos (and turf varieties), as well as snacks, piled-high burgers, sandwiches, huge rice bowls and greens. And first-timers: Putting in an order of mojo fries is pretty much mandatory.
The region's third Jimmy Hula's is expected to open in St. Petersburg at 8123 Fourth St. N., which most recently housed the short-lived 4th Street Tap & Tavern, and the relocated Sloppy Pelican before that.
