In 2009, St. Petersburg Times features writer Lane DeGregory received journalism's highest honor, the Pulitzer Prize, for her story "The Girl In The Window," about a neglected little girl, found in a roach-infested room, unable to talk or feed herself, who was adopted by a new family committed to her nurturing.

On Tuesday she was awarded another prize, this time from the Society of Professional Journalists. She was named a Fellow of the Society, SPJ's highest honor, awarded for extraordinary contribution to the profession.
