If I were asked to describe Black Violin, my response would be innovative, fun and like nothing youve ever heard. This talented trio fuses funk, hip-hop and classical music to create a sound and style that very nearly defies traditional genre categorization. Some might call it revolutionary.
Based out of South Florida, Black Violin consists of a hip-hop DJ, a violinist and a viola player who has named his instrument Tiffany. Together they mix classical music with hip-hop beats, and then toss in some rap and freestyle to keep it interesting. In a career that only spans a few years, Black Violin has managed to land work with an impressive and very diverse list of artists, including Alicia Keys, P. Diddy, Kanye West, Tom Petty, 50 Cent, The Eagles and Aerosmith, to name a few. Even if youre a little skeptical, take my advice and give their music a listen. I promise that its like nothing youve ever heard.
