Bistro bites and baked goods are the specialties of a new plant-based downtown Tampa eatery.

Located inside Duckweed Urban Grocery at 803 N. Tampa St., Farmacy Vegan Kitchen + Bakery has a grand opening celebration planned for 1 p.m. May 13, but it's started serving everything from blueberry lemon doughnuts to Mediterranean lentil salad in soft-opening mode.

The quick-serve vegan restaurant highlights a good variety of health-minded items, including acai bowls, smoothies, juices and wraps — the tasty-sounding avocado BLT features smoked tempeh, heirloom tomato and chipotle crema — alongside more indulgent bites like baked goods.

There's even comfort food dishes that can be heated in-house or at home: shepherd's pie, roasted veggie lasagna and barbecue black bean meatballs, to name a few.

All of Farmacy's offerings are made sans meat or dairy, of course, and gluten-free selections are also on hand.
