Happy Friday to one and all – and it certainly is for us, considering we began the working week bedridden with a vicious flu virus.

Speaking of vicious, we hate to get all cliche ridden on you, but the Tampa mayoral race is becoming more bitter by the day (just 11 to go).  Read our report on the latest racial controversy (or is it?) that came from Dick Greco on Wednesday night – last night the mayor told Thomas Scott he forgives him for fanning the flames of the latest contretemps.

Regarding the District 3 City Council race – yesterday afternoon we hosted a radio debate between those 5 candidates, and  CL contributor Elizabeth Graham has a post on that today.

Florida lawmakers are furiously trying to un-do Governor Scott's decision to abort high speed rail in Florida.  We don't think it has a chance, but will closely follow the machinations.

And Hillsborough County Christian conservative activist Terry Kemple has been known to bash gays from time to time – making it, uh, interesting to say the least that all of the Republicans on the Hillsborough County Commission voted to put him on the County's Human Relations Board.

Everybody loves New Jersey Governor Chris Christie these days – but political analyst Charlie Cook says he's not ready to run in 2012.
