Pinellas County spent $265,000 to help fund the efforts of the Suncoast Health Council, it was revealed during Tuesday's Pinellas County Commission meeting. The money was used to fund staff support, according to David McKalip, a St. Petersburg-based neurosurgeon appointed to the Suncoast Health Council board in 2009 by the county.

Suncoast Health Council operates with a $2.5 million annual budget, about $1 million of which went to programs like the West Central Florida Ryan White Care Council, to help meet the needs of people with HIV/AIDS in eight counties, including Pinellas.
