Like a lot of bands, local and otherwise, Tampa Bay’s Malaya took a break in 2020 before getting back onstage this February. Self-described as a high energy female-fronted alt rock band—think Paramore or Evanescence—vocalist Robin Carbonell and guitarist Adam Irizarry started the band as a duo way back in 2012 and added both drummer José Reyes and Josué Rodríguez on rhythm and backup vocals during their break from playing live.
