Off-Central Players is the newest theater troupe to hit St. Petersburg, performing out of Studio Grand Central, at 2260 1st Ave S. The company and black box-style performance space are the products of producing artistic director, and professional actor, Ward Smith and his sister Karen Riffe.

The first production of “Rasheeda Speaking” wraps up Saturday, Sept. 19 but there are four more productions during the rest of the inaugural season including two original works from local playwright Bill Leavengood.

  • Beauty and the Beast Youth production of the Disney classic. Nov. 12-13
  • The Sister-Mothers of Gulfport World premiere of new drama with themes of abuse from Leavengood. Dec. 2-12
  • The Azure Sky in Oz Another Leavengood dramedy based on a true-story about two Florida women living in the other-abled world. Dec. 16-19
