Last week Peter Boyer in Newsweek reported that currently there are no plans for Sarah Palin to speak at the Republican National Convention in Tampa next month.

That could be awkward, considering that the former Alaskan Governor is scheduled to be in Tampa that week,
having spent $4,500 to reserve space at Channelside Bay Plaza for a political event of some sort.

Of course there’s not known to be much of a relationship of any sort between Palin and presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney. For much of the 2011-2012 nomination season the Republican race seemed to be a matter of Romney vs. a plug in the Tea Party favorite of the month (i.e., Rick Perry, Michelle Bachmann, Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich), and though she never supported any candidate, Palin interjected herself in the race by encouraging that the race keep on going, as she opposed the idea of embracing Romney early on.

Actually, at one point she said she’d vote for Newt Gingrich – right before Florida’s January 31 primary, the last time there was genuine suspense in the nominating process, saying, “yeah, I’d keep the process going. Who is best able to defend our republic? We find out who that person is, we measure the man, through competition.”
