A Mississippi sheriff's deputy visiting his mother-in-law in Riverview walked in on two dudes burglarizing her place, and became instrumental in their capture by giving chase even though he was shot at. Committing what seems like an easy-pickings crime only to be confronted by a law-enforcement officer on vacation from two states away is what's known as "winning the reverse lottery." Well played, universe.
OK, Tampa International Airport and TSA, you can't tell us there was an incident with a suspicious piece of luggage that was eventually determined to be safe, and not tell us what it ended up being — that's just gonna make us assume it was something hella embarrassing. (We've all seen Fight Club, you know.)
And finally it's looking like St. Pete Beach is going to make a serious effort to save its Beach Theatre, which provided many of us with hours of often-independent entertainment and closed in 2012. I can't tell you how happy this makes me. The Blair Witch Project! The Host! The Rocky Horror Picture Show! Uh, Your Friends and Neighbors and Requiem for a Dream! I saw 'em all there, and more.
