A House Republican on Monday filed a proposal that would allow people with concealed-weapons licenses to be armed at state legislative meetings.

Rep. Anthony Sabatini, R-Howey-in-the-Hills, filed the bill (HB 6099) for consideration during the legislative session that will start Jan. 11.

State law includes a list of places where people cannot carry concealed weapons, such as courthouses, polling places and schools.

The law also prevents carrying guns at meetings of the Legislature, including committee meetings.

Sabatini’s bill would delete the prohibition on guns at legislative meetings.
