Mayoral candidate Ford broke this rule first by busting out a tale from a decade ago of how Rick Kriseman had given Bill Foster a Krispy Kreme calendar depicting obese women when both men were on City Council. Ford said the calendar issue revealed a lack of character; the rest of the world said, “Huh?” A couple of weeks later she dug the grave for her campaign even deeper by responding to a question about her support for Midtown by bringing up the potato salad she’d made at a community event back when George H.W. Bush was president.
