We're back at it again with our weekly round-ups of new restaurants coming to the bay, and where you need to get in your last bites before some close their doors for good. This week, we are welcoming new sweets, brews and sports bar grub all around town. Make sure to catch the last dinner service ever at The Refinery in Seminole Heights, and get ready for some Asian fusion dishes in the fall.
OPENING
Baba On Central As of right now, there are no set hours for the restaurant portion of the concept. Check in on the restaurant’s Instagram for daily hour announcements until the newness wears off. Get a taste of the menu which is full of Greek- and Lebanese-inspired dishes and a full bar. 2701 Central Ave., St. Pete.
Bay Cannon Beer Co. The first brewery in west Tampa since 1936. This Friday, August 2, the bar will host its grand opening at noon. Guests will be able to chill at the bar, booth or patio seating while sipping on BCB signature brews. The hours for the bar will be Friday and Saturday, noon-midnight, Sunday noon-7 p.m. 2106 W. Main Street, Tampa.
Cafe Hey The re-opening of the cafe will be hosted on Thursday, August 1 in conjunction with the Collective Arts Series 13 Release and Art Party. Among the renovations to Cafe Hey since its July 4 closure is a new draft bar. The event will feature live music from 7-10 p.m., and open mic night at Cafe Hey from 6-8 p.m. 1540 N. Franklin St., Tampa.
Simply Done Donuts This Friday, August 1, the mini doughnut shop will debut its bite-sized baked delights. The joint also serves up an array of coffees, teas, juices, floats, and sundaes. To celebrate the new digs, Simply Done will be hosting a grand opening party from 6:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. 2109 S. Dale Mabry HWY, Tampa.
Sonder Social Club Time to slide into Dunedin’s first craft cocktail bar. Make it your new date night destination, the concept is open late every night of the week. Sunday through Thursday, 4 p.m.-midnight, Friday and Saturday 4 p.m.-2 a.m. 966 Douglas Ave., Dunedin.
Walk-On’s Bistreaux & Bar The new full-service family sports bar debuted this week serving up All-American menu items with a taste of Louisiana. Just in time for football season. 25372 Sierra Center Blvd., Wesley Chapel.
COMING SOON
Shibui The Nocturnal Hospitality Group and celebrity chef Fabio Viviani are bringing a new concept to downtown Tampa this fall. The fine-dining restaurant will incorporate Asian fusion dishes like shrimp ramen with prawn, Sriracha demi-glace roasted chicken, wagyu tartar.
CLOSING
The Artisan After less than a year in business, Gulfport’s The Artisan is closing its doors at the end of August. The space will soon be taken over by Sea Dog Brewing Company. 2832 Beach Blvd., Gulfport.
The Refinery The last day of service will be Saturday, August 3. The restaurant took to Facebook to announce its closure: “It’s been an honor to be able to serve y’all since 2010, but everything must end!” Reservations are available through thetamparefinery.com, there will also be first-come-first-service walk-in tables available both inside and outside. 5910 N. Florida Ave., Tampa.
