It’s been three years since the Rocket Man officially said farewell to Tampa Bay, and we miss him, damn it.

On the other hand, you only turn 78 years old once, and someone on this stacked lineup for one of WMNF’s legendary artist birthday parties is bound to give us a healthy dose of Elton John’s “Crocodile Rock” (a song he swore off once he finished touring).

You probably won’t hear anything from his new album with Brandi Carlile—Who Believes In Angels, which drops today, before this birthday tribute—though.

Tickets to WMNF 88.5-FM’s Elton John tribute concert happening Saturday, April 5 at Tampa’s Skipper’s Smokehouse are still available and start at $20. Readers are invited to submit their own events to Creative Loafing Tampa Bay’s things to do calendar.
