HCC Ybor stages A Tribute to Stonewall, in honor of the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, which occurred after a police raid on New York’s Stonewall Inn gay club in 1969.

These riots are considered the catalyst for the surge in fighting for equality for the LGBTQ+ community, and the tribute features classic band literature and original compositions themed around Pride, Equality and Activism. New work by composer Omar Thomas, “A Mother of Revolution," will make its debut along with a world premiere of a piece by American composer Julie Giroux whose work honors the victims of the 2016 Pulse Massacre. Bring the tissues and the love.

Sat. Sept. 28, 5 p.m.-8 p.m. $10 (Children 12 and under free). Performing Arts Building at HCC Ybor, 1411 E. 11th Ave., Tampa eventbrite.com.
