When it comes to hard-rock supergroups, there’s something in the water in Tampa Bay. The area is home to Heaven’s Gate whose members hail from outfits like Iron Reagan, Municipal Waste, Cannibal Corpse, Warthog, Reversal of Man and Horsewhip— and this weekend fans get to headbang with Umbilicus.

The band channels vintage blues and psych-rock from the ‘60s and ‘70s features members who also play in Deicide (Taylor Nordberg) and Cannibal Corpse (Paul Mazurkiewicz), along with Anarchus and Fore (Vernon Blake, Brian Stephenson).

Its debut LP, Path of 1000 Suns, released in 2022, features all the fun of old-school rock and roll (think: Scorpions, Black Sabbath and Bad Company) complete with opulent solos, harmonies, chunky riffs and rhythms you can chug a cheap beer to.

Tickets to see Umbilicus play the music hall at New World Brewery in Tampa on Thursday, March 14 are still available and start at $15.
