“Our Vanishing Americana: Florida” airs Monday, June 23 at 9 p.m. But those who register for the screening at Feeding Tampa Bay will get to see it next Friday.
As part of the “Our Vanishing Americana” series, photographer Mike Lassiter goes on a journey through Florida’s nooks and crannies and talks to the folks who keep small-town history alive.
St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club, McGuire’s Barbershop in Dunedin, Reececliff Family Diner and Silver Moon Drive-In in Lakeland, as well as a few spots in Tarpon Springs are among iconic locations featured around the state. Lassiter’s series began in the 1980s, focusing on old storefronts and vintage signs in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. It’s since evolved to dive into the lives and legacies behind fading landmarks.
The film’s director, Eric Davis, and executive producer, Scott Calloway, will answer questions in a panel after the screening at Feeding Tampa Bay.
There is no cover, but registration is required for “Our Vanishing Americana: Florida” on Friday, June 13, in Tampa.
