Using ancestry.com isn’t easy for everyone, and this free event at the Robert W. Saunders, Sr. Public Library, at the very least, promises to get you on your way after a screening of “Railroad Ties," wherein six descendants of slaves and abolitionists come together to explore their shared lineage (spoiler: four of them turned out to be related to one another.) No registration is required for the event and ancestry.com tutorial, but do know that actually using the for-profit genealogy company’s services will set you back a nice chunk of change.

Railroad Ties: A Short Film from Ancestry.com. Mon. Feb. 3, 6 p.m.-7 p.m. Robert W. Saunders, Sr. Public Library, 1505 N. Nebraska Ave., Ybor City. Free. hcplc.info.
