St. Pete, can you handle another coffee shop? Well, you have another month or so to prepare. A new coffee bar, The Chelsea St Pete, is coming to town in early 2021. Nestling in at 2462 5th Ave. S. at St. Pete's Warehouse Arts District, The Chelsea plans on offering a little more than your typical caffeinated buzz.
The menu is set to feature coffee, tea, beer, wine, and bites. The space also plans on hosting a variety of decor, art, and home accessories for sale. Getting tipsy and having an embroidered pillow nearby may be a dangerous game to play.
Owner Teresa Vidal Chalkley—who has previously co-owned and managed two boutiques in St. Petersburg, Bossa Nova and If and Only If (stylized "if and only if")—is behind the project. The forthcoming coffee bar's website gives insight into what the coffee bar represents for Chalkley, "Chelsea St Pete, is inspired by Chalkley's student experiences of working in busy Chelsea restaurants and exploring the exciting and vibrant explosion of boutique shops, art galleries, and cafes and bistros in Manhattan."
That means creating an upscale hangout for locals to sip, eat and enjoy the company of friends and colleagues. When it comes to style, future guests can expect a mix of a big-city locale with a friendly, casual Florida vibes and local St. Petersburg flavor.
More details to come as an official opening date is announced. Until then, you can follow along with The Chelsea on Instagram, @thechelseastpete, for sneak peeks.
