Fort Lauderdale-by-way-of-Goshen, N.Y. quartet The Heavy Pets won the Sonicbids fan vote to open the Langerado Music Festival this year. While it probably had something to do with their local status, the music speaks for itself, a fusion of heavy funk reggae and psychedelic, beat-riffic jam rock that's fun, lively and definitely worthy of some Wednesday night booty-shakin'.
