Price of veggies got you down? Tired of seeing those vacant lots in your neighborhood attract all sort of rubbish? Perhaps you should consider embarking on a quest to create a community garden.
This weekâs Urban Explorer chronicles the struggles for a community garden in Bartlett Park, and shines the spotlight on a few other gardens in Tampa Bay.
While researching the story, I noticed there arenât any local resources for Tampa Bay residents wanting to start community gardens. In fact, I had difficulty cataloging just how many urban gardens there are in the region.
Besides the gardens noted in the article â Tampaâs Garden of Eden, St. Peteâs Azalea Community Garden and Palmetto Park â I found one in Gibsonton and another planned for Tampa Heights.
