Yesterday the Hillsborough County Commission made official what had been hinted at the day before; That the vote on ballot language for the proposed one cent sales tax referendum on transportation would not take place at their meeting on March 3rd. Commission Chair Ken Hagan had said as much on Tuesday at a luncheon hosted by the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce.
At yesterday's BOCC workshop, it became clear that there were far too many questions that haven't been answered for many who support the proposal in theory to feel comfortable about going to the public with.
But the question needs to be asked: Why have all the issues that were discussed yesterday – such as on who will have oversight over the monies collected, how will they be distributed, and how will new proposed bus service connect with the rail systems – not been already addressed to everyone's satisfaction?
