No one sets out to raise an asshole. Moms and dads usually look at their little miracle and plan great things for his future. After a while, these plans take a back seat to other pursuits, like moving ahead at work or getting laid, and then before you know it, Junior is raping his younger cousin or blowing up a federal building.
Open any newspaper and pick a problem.
Struggling schools? They are filled with children whose parents are busy working, watching television, or cruising online dating sites. Obese children? They come from families where jelly-filled donuts are considered fruit servings. Unwanted pregnancies in drug-addicted teenagers? That usually has something to do with mothers and fathers who drink all through dinner and then pass out in the mashed potatoes.
Almost every problem can be traced back to failing families.
