Eight students from The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Tampa are beginning construction on some festive-looking gingerbread houses today at the Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach Resort. The students are competing to win a a weekend getaway for two at the hotel, the winner being chosen by the public.
Our culinary students work and study hard yearlong. This is a great community event that gets them out of the kitchens for holiday fun where they can use their skills to spread the cheer, said Chef Ricardo Castro, culinary chair for The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Tampa.
Today and tomorrow, Monday, December 12 and Tuesday, December 13, the culinary students will be toiling away at their edible edifices at the hotel and the public are invited to view and vote on them in the hotel's lobby. Even if you can't make it over there to see them for yourself, you can still vote online via the resorts Facebook page: www.facebook.com/hyattclearwater. Votes will be tallied on December 17 and the winner will be announced that day at 3 p.m.
