This Thurs., March 10, is well-stocked with live music options, whether you prefer schtick, straightforward rock n' roll, experimentation, blues or Americana. Take a look at the breakdown below.

Mac Sabbath with Wolf-Face, Nerds Raging, Twisty Chris and the Puddin' Packs The premise is of parody band Mac Sabbath is definitely schticky, but seeing as no one here’s likely ever seen such antics before, the schtick should work. Four musicians take on the identities of Ronald Osborne, Slayer Mac Cheeze, Grimalice, and the Cat Burglar, in full Mickey D’s inspired regalia but all warped and distorted as if seen through a fun house mirror, and they play self-styled “drive-thru metal” – Black Sabbath songs as re-worked with satire-laced fast food-inspired lyrics and themes; "Pair-a-Buns" ("Paranoid"), "Never Say Diet" ("Never Say Die") and"Frying Pan" ("Iron Man"), et. al. Wild Beer Jam feat. Nick Moss Band ATampa Bay Beer Week event featuring 14 taps, bottles and cans from seven U.S. breweries including Saint Somewhere and Green Bench Brewing, and muscular guitar-seared blues shaded in funk, R&B, soul and ‘70s rock hues by Chicago’s jam-oriented Nick Moss Band. (Ale and the Witch, St. Petersburg)–LP

STOIC Going Away Party with Holiday, Mountain Holler, Rogerthomas, DEA + Saint He’s been adding an intriguingly idiosyncratic note to the St. Pete arts scene for the past four years with character-driven paintings and sample-skewed electronic music, but now STOIC (aka Alexander Glueck) is setting out to make his name in NYC. The venue that helped him get his start (and still featured a piece of his art behind the DJ booth) throws a going away bash to see him off, and several talented compadres provide support on one of his last night in town. (The Bends, St. Petersburg) –LP

Laney Jones and the Spirits with Shae Krispinsky, Sam Robertson
An all-Florida showcase of roots-hewn talents headed up by Central Florida talent Laney Jones, who juggles banjo, ukulele, guitar and harmonica, sings in a clear dulcet soprano, and with her three-piece Spirits (Matthew Tonner, Tre Hester and Brian Dowd), crafts sunny-bright folk-Americana tunes that earned her a featured spot on PBS series Great Performances last year. (New World Brewery, Ybor City) –LP

Donavon Frankenreiter
Technically, it’s been 11 years between the release of Donavon Frankenreiter’s self-titled debut and his latest, The Heart, though the two albums sound, at times, as if they were created by two different men, separated by eternities of lives lived. The California surfer and Jack Johnson friend/collaborator maintains simple song structures but lyrically, has traded in unadulterated hedonism for more cautious optimism and soul-baring honesty. Lines like “It feels like I’m on a losing streak / just trying to make sense of my life” and “I hope you can say you did everything you wanted to” reveal the reflections of a man who’s had time to look back and gain newfound perspective. One thing hasn’t changed, however – that restful kind of easy rocking magic that only Frankenreiter and his guitar seem capable of inducing. (State Theatre, St. Petersburg) –Leanne Castro
