Keep your sandals on, folks.

Michael Franti, the barefoot king of world-pop was supposed to bring his bandmates of more than 30 years back to Tampa Bay this weekend, but plans have changed.

“My wife, Sara, has just gone into labor 3 weeks early and our new baby girl is on her way!,” he wrote in a statement. “As much as I’ve been looking forward to performing for you tonight in Atlanta and later this week in Florida, I need to be with Sara and my family and I’m leaving right away to be with them…Thank you for your love, and I can’t wait to see you all in September!”

The announcement is actually fitting since his sunny new album Welcome To The Family, finds the 59-year-old explores his struggles, like being adopted, and more.

A press release from Ruth Eckerd Hall, which manages the BayCare sound, says tickets for the concert set for Friday, May 17 will still be honored on the new date.

Tickets to see Michael Franti play The BayCare Sound in Clearwater on Friday, Sept 19 are still available and start at $45.

In the meantime, enjoy photos from his last set at the venue.
