The Tampa Bay Lightning were looking for a bounce-back performance against the undefeated Dallas Stars on Monday night at the St. Pete Times Forum. In a game that they dominated for most of the night, they got that effort, although it didn't come easy as they held off a late Dallas surge in the third period to win the game 5-4.

Toby Peterson opened up the scoring for the Stars with a shorthanded goal at 15:04 of the first on an end-to-end rush with speed down the right wing that caught everyone off guard. For Peterson, it was his first goal of the season. Tampa Bay answered right back less then two minutes later, with Steve Downie getting a deflection off a Martin St. Louis shot on the powerplay to score his second goal of the year at 16:21,  tying the game at one.
