Anything Junior Boys releases gets my attention, but a remix of the Canadian duo's material really makes me excited. Ikonika's take on "Over It" is pure electro-pop bliss; Junior Boys sound right at home amid the smooth beats and abundance of chill synth tones. Philly emcee/producer Lushlife announced his new LP Ritualize, which drops February 19. "Ecstatic Cult" is the second single off the forthcoming record, and it may be my favorite track this week. Lushlife called on outside production this go around from another Philly native, RJD2, along with CSLSX. Overall, Ritualize is shaping up to be one of the best hip-hop albums of 2016.
Anderson Paak's new record, Malibu, came out this past Friday, and it's fantastic! I included "The Season I Carry Me" below, and it's carried on a lovely beat by 9th Wonder. This is an album I'll dig into more in later editions, and it's bound to be covered throughout the year. Kendrick Lamar fans should take notice.
