We know for certain that Charlie Crist has called a news conference for Thursday afternoon at 5 p.m. at Straub Park in St. Petersburg, but the Governor was being coy Wednesday when asked if he would declare that he is leaving the Republican Party to run as a Non Party Affiliated candidate for the U.S. Senate this fall.
We'll know for certain after 5p.m., though that didn't stop a number of news organizations from reporting on Wednesday that he's definitely going indie.
The other candidates in the race, Republican Marco Rubio and Democrat Kendrick Meek, are prepared to stay in the spotlight; Rubio is meeting with "grass-roots" Republican supporters in the morning in Coral Gables, while Kendrick Meek is scheduled to appear on Hardball with Chris Matthews at 5:30 p.m.
