Record stores come and go. Eleven years ago, indie record retailers thought they might be extinct soon, so they invented Record Store Day.
There's a lot more hope than hopelessness out there these days (more on that in our 2017 story about the 10th anniversary of Record Store Day), and the Tampa Bay area has plenty of great places to find vinyl and — more importantly — community-minded people who love music as much as you do (and that's why you should pick up local vinyl during your RSD 2018 shopping).

Here's an evolving list of the independent stores that sell records in Tampa Bay.
Most of them conform to record store norms (knowledgeable staff, expansive, multi-genre selection), and some waver from those norms. Others have smaller collections and are more or less places to buy used records (love ya, Dustin's Vinyl Shop). Some — like Unique Music & Collectables in Dunedin — might need to be stripped from the list altogether.
