Dunedin Brewery’s big ol’ fall beer launch party ushers in the cooling months and draws Bay area folks with the promise of seasonal brews, German food, quality live tunes and a festive vibe that carries on throughout the weekend.
The event kicks off with its usual (and usually sold-out) Oktobeerfest Literstein Heritage Night bash, with the $40 ticket paying for one of the brewery’s trademark limited edition steins, a beer on the house, discounted fills for the next year and live tunes by the jazz-leaning Serotonic and funkier Row Jomah.
Friday’s musical shennanys are powered by an out-of-town guest and new lowend-thumping favorite in these parts, Bootsy Collins-approved Freekbass, while Baltimore’s prog-tasty funktronic Pigeons Playing Ping Pong close things down on Sunday. But the real high point of Oktobeerfest is its Saturday Street Party, which kicks off in the afternoon, spills out onto Douglas Avenue, and this year, culminates in a few-set performance by South Florida jam darlings The Heavy Pets.
Event Details: Oct. 1-4, 7 p.m. Thurs. (Serotonic and Row Jomah), 7 p.m. Fri. (Freekbass with Sumilan and DJ 45revolver), 2 p.m. Sat. (The Heavy Pets with Rise of Saturn, Larry Mitchell and Displace), 6 p.m. Sun. (Pigeons Playing Ping Pong with The Groove Orient and DBHB), Dunedin Brewery, 937 Douglas Ave., Dunedin. Admission to everything (save Thursday’s party) is free.
