Hip Grand Central restaurant the Queens Head has been adding a host of regular events to its roster of late, not the least of which is its Queen of Arts series of shows, thrown in conjunction with St. Pete arts promoters Muse in the Window. Friday night sees the kick-off of the second installment, Owed to Influence, featuring oil paintings by Perry deVick and mixed media work by exhibition partner (and real-life partner, too) Joshua Bentley. The former’s paintings build on historic traditions with a unique modern perspective and “heavily patterned illustrative realism," while the latter incorporates digital photography and various other techniques and textures to create “physically photographic works.”
All featured works are loosely based on specific pieces by other artists, from the famous to the obscure. Nick Boutwell provides musical accompaniment.
