The Ale and the Witch’s upstairs sibling is poised to close in downtown St. Pete after this weekend.
Launched more than three years ago, the Witches BBQ Den specialized in smoked meats and other items made in-house, including sides and sauces. Its second-level digs at 111 Second Ave. NE also acted as a venue for concerts, theater, comedy and poetry.
A goodbye celebration for the restaurant, titled Smoking Farewell and hosted by the Witch, will run from 5 p.m. to midnight Friday. The bar plans to showcase Lagunitas Brewing Company’s Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’ Ale, pilsner and IPA on tap, and food specials upstairs include pulled pork or chicken, ribs and brisket platters. Boxcar Hollow will provide the live tunes between 8:30 and 11:30 p.m. in the courtyard.
Those who can’t make it to the Smoking Farewell can enjoy $4 pork and chicken sandwiches at the BBQ Den one last time on Saturday, or head to the restaurant from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday for its final music showcase. The concert is free to attend, and $4 drafts will be available starting at 4 p.m.
