A few noteworthy (and free!) shows happening this Thurs., June 25. Breakdown  below…

Magic Hat Electric Peel Launch Party with Soulive
A staple of the jam scene since bursting out of traditional jazz soundscapes and into funkier realms in 1999, Soulive is made up of Evans brothers Alan and Neal – the former keeping the beats while the latter propels the band’s sounds on Hammond B3, bass keys and clavinet – along with guitarist Eric Krasno, who moonlights with Neal in another biggie funk-jam ensemble: Lettuce. Tampa is only one of five cities picked to host a launch party for Magic Hat’s new Electric Peel IPA. Soulive headlines, Philly rock five-piece Kalob Griffen Band opens, and a silent disco entertains in between. Admission is free but this is an invitation-only event, which means reserving tickets in advance is required; more info about how to do that HERE. Ages 21 and up only. (The Ritz Ybor, Ybor City)

Singer-Songwriter Night @ The Bunker: Da Terra Meiga, Casey Little Band, Fredrick Avila This special edition of Amy Snider’s weekly songwriting showcase features an overseas duo: Da Terra Meiga, from the northwest Galicia region of Spain. Their handle means “from the witch land” and sound culls influences from the region’s folk traditions (sans bagpipes) with light flamenco spice. Ruben Ares’ robust tenor proves a fine balance to the bright soprano of Laura Cruz, finely-pitched lead and harmonies sung in their native tongue as Ares works acoustic guitar with a finger-style Rasgueado technique, a rhythmic mix of flicking, picking and strumming that sounds as if many are being played at once. (Tre Amici @ The Bunker, St. Petersburg)
