✔️  Holly Hunt w/Meatwound/Horsewhip We’re not sure how store owner Rob Sexton plans to keep the doors from blowing off when a trio of Florida’s heaviest bands settles in for a Thursday-night show. Holly Hunt comes with a new 12-inch in tow, and we’re loving the way the Miami duo uses side A’s “The Wait” to lull any newcomers into a false sense of quiet before completely unleashing waves of chunky fuzz on the flipside, “Bowling Green.” St. Pete’s Horsewhip plays support along with Tampa’s latest great metal export Meatwound (which recently signed to Magic Bullet Records). ✔️  Big Pre-Fest in Little Ybor w/Off With Their Heads (Acoustic)/Against Me!/Jason Guy Smiley/Banner Pilot/Debt Neglector/Rainer Maria/Smoking Popes/Beach Sland/more Day two of Big Pre-Fest in Little Ybor (a five-years running punk rock family reunion) brings some of the best punk bands in the world to Ybor City to take over five stages stretching from the Dirty Shame to the Bricks Ybor. Highlights on today’s lineup include an acoustic set from Off With Their Heads, another set from Gainesville punk darlings Against Me!, and sets from old-school favorites like Beach Sland, Smoking Popes and Rainer Maria. Anthony Hamilton Anthony Hamilton is not in Cleveland’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame yet, but the 46-year-old Tar Heel State soul singer has been inducted into the North Carolina version (Nina Simone, Thelonious Monk and The Avett Brothers are some others who are enshrined in the Carolina hall). Hamilton — who arrives in support of his 2016 LP, What I’m Feelin’ — certainly deserves the accolades (10 Grammy nominations, one win), and has a Southern drawl that has landed him in the company of guys like Bill Withers and the late Bobby Womack. “Mutulu Shakur” — Anthony’s latest collaboration with Georgia rapper Scrilla — is a politically charged power anthem not for the ears of anyone whose feelings get hurt when they see the phrase “BLM” in their Facebook feed. Moving into St. Pete’s burgeoning Warehouse Arts District where a crazy crucible of art and commerce awaits

ArtsXchange Grand Opening Celebration w/Rebekah Pulley and Rob Pastore Rent is rising in the warehouse district, so a coalition of community activists have secured a 2,500-square-foot space to help create affordable, sustainable and accessible space for St. Petersburg artists. This christening of the 28-studio space is being soundtracked by a pair of Bay area folk legends, Rebekah Pulley and Rob Pastore. (Warehouse Arts District, St. Petersburg) INFO

The Magpie Salute Black Crowes fans always flip for a show from Chris Robinson, so it’ll be interesting to see if the same crop of loyalists turns up for this one featuring former Crowes guitarist (and Chris’ baby bro) Rich Robinson. What was supposed to be a solo record from Rich turned into a self-titled 2016 debut for a new band, The Magpie Salute, and a January 2017 show at New York’s Gramercy Theatre sold out, so we’re counting on a nice showing of Southern rock fans when Rich — flanked by Marc Ford, John Hogg, Steven Pipien, and Joe Magistro — gets to St. Pete. Toad the Wet Sprocket Glen Phillips still seemed a little bummed about his 2014 divorce when he played a Valentine’s Day set at The Attic in Ybor City, so it’ll be nice to see the 46-year-old songwriter surrounded by some familiar faces when Toad the Wet Sprocket arrives in Clearwater for an intimate set at the Cap. The band is still touring behind its 2013 LP, New Constellation, but it was the Toad-ers’ first since 1997, so it’ll go a long way with fans who’ve been walking on the ocean with the band since ‘91.
