Even if you were never forced to attend summer camp, Jaimie Walker's story of that time she tried but failed to get a free pass out will resonate. She wants everyone, and especially her mother, to know that she has since found a bible study that she attends and loves in Tampa.

Anyone with a story to tell and the guts to get up and share it has a chance to be on our stage, where we pick names at random. We also feature a curated story.

The next True Stories is Wednesday, Nov. 9 at Old Key West Bar & Grill, and our featured storyteller will be none other than Creative Loafing's own A&E editor and author of the book, Backroads of Paradise: A Journey to Re-Discover Old Florida: Cathy Salustri. In honor of the upcoming holidays, our November theme will be food. Tell us about that time your family gathered for the big meal, only to discover the dog just ate the main dish. Or that time you tried to impress your new crush with your culinary skills. Then there was that time you got food poisoning but had a non-negotiable day at work. You get the idea. Food, we’ve all been there. $5.

Created by Lisa L. Kirchner, True Stories is a Keep St. Pete Lit event. For a schedule of upcoming shows and themes, go to truestories.cc.
