After nearly two decades on the corner of W Kennedy Boulevard and S Sterling Avenue, South Tampa steakhouse Renzo’s will move to a new location less than two miles away.

Renzo Menzerotolo told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay he hopes to soft open at 122 S Howard Ave. by May. Both the new location and the original will operate at the same time before the lease at 3644 W Kennedy Blvd. runs out on Sept. 30.

Menzerotolo added that his original landlord sold the Kennedy Boulevard property a few years ago and that the new managing company’s rates were forcing Menzerotolo to look for a new spot. He even came close to signing leases in downtown Tampa and Water Street.

He settled at the location on the corner of W Cleveland Street and S Howard Avenue—former home of Rose Bar and ShoMi sushi & seafood—citing parking and proximity to the current Tampa location.

The menu will stay the same, with improvements and a new look, along with a full-service dining room, full liquor bar, plus the retail, bakery and meat market customers are used to.

“We’re bringing back breakfast, Sunday brunch, and entertainment,” Menzerotolo said, adding that open fire grills will also return along with the Argentinian parrilladas experience.

Most of the front and back of house staff at the Kennedy location is coming along, but Renzo’s is already hiring and training staff at its other locations in Carrollwood and St. Petersburg which have been in operation for 14 and seven years, respectively. He’s also working on a project that could open in Wesley Chapel in 2028.

Known for meats, but also wine and house-made desserts like the chajá, Renzo’s steakhouse has a passion for “asado,” or Argentine-style grilling, showcased in everything from skirt steak to Brazilian picanha, churrasco, ribeye and more.

The current wine list includes more than two dozen wines by the bottle and about just as many by the glass.
