Billy Strings, the Grammy-Award winning bluegrass star whose real name is William Apostol, was in town this week for a Wednesday night show at Benchmark International Arena. But before he took the stage, the 33-year-old popped into Skatepark of Tampa for a quick skateboard sesh.
Yesterday, Strings posted a series of clips to his Instagram account showing him pushing around SPoT, and he’s remarkably-decent for someone who claims he hasnโt stepped on a board in over 20 years.
โWhat a blast. Havenโt been here since I was 12,โ said Stings in the post. โWish I could stick around for the contest.”
Strings is referring to this weekendโs annual Tampa Pro competition, which runs today through April 12 at Skate Park of Tampa, and features some of the best professional skateboarders from all over the world.
As of now, the event is mostly sold \-out, though Friday passes are still available at skateparkoftampa.com.
