In June, David Hockney passed away at the age of 88. The multidisciplinary artist “restored the human form to art” according to the New York Times, never limited himself to one medium in his creation of prints, collages, lithographs, photographs, and more, using everything from iPads and iPhones to Xerox machines and Polaroids.
Today, Jordan D. Schnitzer and the Tampa Museum open a new, five-section, exhibit with more than 140 pieces from the collection of Schnitzer’s family foundation, showing off Hockney’s portraits (like this self-portrait lithograph in five colors), design, landscapes, and more, all showcasing the artist’s unique curiosity, sense of humor and imagination.
The show is on display through February. In December, the museum hosts a “Remix” workshop where attendees can see the show and then create greeting cards inspired by the work.
