The Bay Area Renaissance Festival is back for another year of olde-school fun.

There's always plenty to see at the Bay Area Renaissance Festival.

It's time to party like it's 1499.

After getting the axe in 2020 thanks to coronavirus concert, the Bay Area Renaissance Festival is ready to start up again, at a new location. Today, organizers took to social media to say that the party kicks off Saturday, April 17 and runs six weekends, on Saturdays and Sundays, through May 23. What's more is that the festival is moving from the grounds near Tampa's Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) to Withlacoochee River Park in Dade City, 33 miles away.

If you're used to traveling to Ye Olde Fowler Avenue, then that's quite a haul. But it's an accomplishment to have the event at all, and it's happening for six full weekends in the same format thousands of people love every year. So by using that modern marvel known as the automobile to drive a little farther, you can support a local event that's been entertaining folks for decades. It's only Dade City, after all; not Camelot. Pick your favorite theme, get tickets early to save money, and go.

Plus, the traditions haven't changed much. The still Bay Area Renaissance Festival is still happening over several themed weekends, with plenty of artists and merchants selling their wares. There will still be plenty of entertainment across several stages. There will still be juggling, jousting and the kind of food you expect at the festival. You might even get to see Ye Olde Bare Ass and Dong again (but we'll settle for turkey legs—lots and lots of turkey legs).
