7 things to do this weekend

Pub Crawl Thru Grand Central, Peace Awards, The Neighborhood Watch, Lizard of Oz, Derby Dancing Party, 2 For 2 and silent Peter Pan.

Get in on a two-wheel socializing event with the Pub Crawl Thru Grand Central Friday night. The neighborhood is probably St. Pete’s best up-and-coming area. If you don’t live there, ride on out and see why.

On Saturday, give peace a chance at the WMNF Peace Awards. In today’s times, it’s not only therapeutic but imperative to celebrate the people who are making the world a better place locally, and there’s no better way than attending WMNF’s annual awards bash at the Straz.

Feeling arty? Here’s a freebie twofer in Tampa to tickle the inspiration centers of your noggin. First, stroll The Neighborhood Watch projection walk in Hampton Terrace (the neighborhood by Publix on Nebraska Avenue in Seminole Heights) and then check out the 2 For 2 art show at the Bricks, also on Saturday night.

Feel like dancing? In Pinellas, you've got the Lizard of Oz annual pre-Gecko Fest getdown and in Tampa, the Derby Girls are putting on the Derby Dancing: 80s Dance Party at the Dog's Bollocks.

It's time once again for the Summer Classic Movies finale at Tampa Theatre. The silent movie event is an annual tradition and happens again this Sunday — when you can go back in time before the talkies to a 1924 film adaptation of Peter Pan. The soundtrack comes courtesy of Cliff Shafer at the theater’s Mighty Wurlitzer organ.
