Attention Oddballs: Humor Ahead Aug. 26

It's hot outside, but not too hot to enjoy the Oddball comedy festival.

The oddest thing about the Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival is holding an outdoor comedy show in Tampa. In August. The rest of it makes perfect sense, though: Put together a collection of comedy heavyweights and create a traveling show that breaks out of comedy clubs and small theaters and hits the big venues. Most amphitheater shows are music concerts, and this is set up the same way, with a general admission pit area (don’t expect any moshing, but you never know) and lawn seating in the back. There will also be a side stage where locals can warm up the crowd, but the big draw is the main stage. And it’s packed with headliners: Sebastian Maniscalco, Gabriel Iglesias (“Fluffy” to his fans), Hannibal Buress, Bert Kreischer, Iliza Shlesinger, Big Jay Oakerson and more. Any one of these comedians could fill a comedy club on their own, but they’ll all appear for abbreviated sets in one show. You won’t get a bigger lineup on any show this year. You just might have to sweat a little to enjoy it.
