Beach Theatre observes the holiday season with Terrorthon, a series of horror movie screenings, each night offering its own distinctive flavor of scare. This evening's "Richard Matheson Night" features two films penned by the renown horror and sci-fi screenwriter. The event opens with 1957's The Incredible Shrinking Man, about a man who begins shrinking after being exposed to a dangerous combination of radiation and insecticide. The other film, Duel, is based on a short story by Matheson, who adapted his work into a screenplay for Steven Spielberg's feature-length debut. The suspense film is basically one long, road rage-inspired car chase, with a businessman traveler as the victim and a faceless truck driver as his assailant. Through Oct. 31, Beach Theatre, 315 Corey Ave., St. Pete Beach, $8, 727-360-6697, beachtheatre.com.
